unqualified mining jobs William Last updated by Zac: 06/10/2016
25 year old from Sidney. I'm considering moving to Kalgoorlie to try and see about getting an unqualified job in the mining industry. It's a big step and since I hear that getting an entry level in the mining industry is not easy and also that the work itself can be very tough, I'd like to get advise as to whether the effort is worthwhile and whether it pays.

If you're looking for an entry level position your best bet is to contact mining companies directly and if necessary relocate to be near the area of influence of a mining region. Of course if you are a geologist, engineer or have a qualification in construction you have a better chance than most people. Another head start is if you have a trade.

There's also the shutdowns. they take place every now and then for maintenance, repairs, etc. They can be a good option for backpackers and people who don't want a long term commitment. They're unskilled jobs. I'd say they may be a good opportunity to enter and make an impression.
