How to get a Check from the Police
Hi, Im looking for some jobs being a waiter and in day care. The jobs say you dont need experience but it says you need to get a police check.
But how do you get one? Do i have to go to the police station? One job says you are working in a high class club, that why they want a police check? But the other job is for children so are they the same thing ?
Thanks for you help.Dnguyen- As far as I know there are screening processes when it comes to working in child-related positions. You’ll probably find information in the Australian Institute of Family studies (Australian Gov). I think that in this day and age, something like this makes a lot of sense, after all the incidents you hear around. Waiters may have some sort of screening too. I’ve heard that often enough when discrimination in employment is discussed. I cannot tell you where you can find the relevant literature in this respect, but I’d guess that some page on human rights, possibly an Australian one could give you some hints… There's a web on pre-employment screening that gives you all the details, I think it's precisely called employmentscreeningaustralia, if not, it must be something similar. Good luck!

Getting a police check is pretty easy. It just depends if they want a National Police Check or a State Based Criminal History Check.
Some resources you should check out are:
1) How to Get a Police Check - https://steemit.com/australia/@assembleitmedia/how-to-get-a-police-check-in-australia
2) National Police Checks Online - https://www.nationalcrimecheck.com.au/
3)Police Check Information from the AFP - https://www.afp.gov.au/what-we-do/services/criminal-records/national-police-checks - Dan, I`ll try to help. Yes, indeed, when hiring, the employer may require information about the previous criminal records, but personally, nothing is required from you. Typically, the company uses the service, like this https://www.trustedemployees.com/employment-screening/ - which offers employment screening.

I went for an interview for a part time job and when told about the holidays I didn't quite understand. Is it correct that a part time job gives you the same holidays as a full time job?
Ella
- Any legal worker is entitled to 4 weeks of annual leave. If you work 20h x week, you're entitled to 80h of holidays, which for you is 4 weeks. Shiftworkers i think can get up to 5 weeeks a year.
